The Princess Bride

Buttercup: That’s the fire swamp! We’ll never survive!

Wesley: Nonsense! You’re only saying that because no one ever has.

First thing’s first: I lied when I said that I’ve always wanted to watch this movie. It’s true that I’ve wanted to do so for quite some time now, but “always” was a bit of a overstatement, and when I finally watched it yesterday, I suddenly remembered that I’ve in fact already seen it.

Well, no matter; that was such a long time ago that a rewatch had been long due. And this was in the end quite fun. It’s more of a romp than an actual film, really. Somewhere along the line, somebody decided to just write an hour and a half long film using only quotable material and the most generic characters they could think of. And it works excitingly good, though it isn’t a great film by any means. It’s just a blast, and that’s okay with me.

Sometimes, a blast is all you really need. And man, what a blast this one is. :)
